My Reflection
Recently, I just graduated from Taylor's University earned my title as Bachelor of International Hospitality Management with First Class Honors. It's been a great learning experience in the past 3 years that make who am I now. Not only fully equipped with the knowledge essential for the industry but also shaped my personality to live my life to the fullest. I could not thank enough my family, friend, and all the lecturers who have helped me in the past 3 years. One word can't describe how grateful am I.
Semester 6 was my last semester here at Taylor's University. A lot of things that I've learned so far and it brings a lot of impact for me that makes me as who I am today. Many obstacles that I've been through and a lot of improvement as well that I've got.
In 2016, I've been through my exchange programme at Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom for one semester only. It was an unforgettable experience in my life so far, because going to UK is one of my dream since I was a child. I really like the way people live their life over there. From this programme, I learnt a lot, not only on the academic side but also how I understand the culture and social life over there. You can see my written testimonial of my exchange programme by clicking here .
In relation with TGC, I can take some learning from this exchange programme. There are three main skills thatI can learn, they are discipline specific knowledge, thinking and problem-solving skill, and communication skill. These 3 skills really important for my future in hotel industry. Knowledge that I got from university can help me to do the practical thing perfectly. Thinking and problem solving skill will help me to solve daily issue which for sure will arise in day to day operation. Last but not least, I feel my communication skill, especially in term of English has been improved a lot more better, which of course will be very beneficial for me as an hotelier.
Besides that, I am a type of person who eager to learn more. It was proven by taking an extra internship instead of having holiday during this 3 months of break. After I came back from UK, I decided to do internship at Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali, taking Human Resource Department. I am a type of person who like to push myself as far as possible for my future as an hotelier.
After, at the end of 2017, from September 2017, I've been through my third and final internship at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi before completing my study at Taylor's University next year. I've been exposed to a totally new department within F&B which is Private Dining. A lot of things to learn, but most importantly how I can grow myself during this internship to be ready for the industry. For me, besides a new knowledge, attitude is the most important thing. From the way I received task from my manager and how I interact with my other colleagues. I really learned a lot from them.
Last but not least, I also want to highlight my strength and my weakness. Two strength that I have is I am a hardworking person and I have a good leadership skill as well a good team player. Besides that I also have some weakness that I haven't overcome it yet. It is that I am not a confident person and a bit wishy washy. However, I have a plan already to overcome it by participating in any event that my school hold and participating in club and society. To know more about my strength and weakness, I've made my own SWOT analysis, you can see it by clicking here.
Here some reflective of some subject that I've made during my study in Taylor's University:
